Mas tu se usas o Arch estás mal habituado (assim como eu ) mas de qualquer forma o OpenOffice deve estar nos repositórios oficiais de todas as distros, acho que não deve haver ninguém que use linux e não conheça o OpenOffice.

O ubuntu tem o OpenOffice nos repositórios.
